(Images shot at the beautiful Mitre hotel in Hampton Court, by the ever talented Beatrice Granados)

What happens when you watch a certain music video one too many times- fall in love with the styling, spaghetti and romantic train rides and then metaphorically dream of travelling down The Mall on a double bed?

…Well not a lot, except a real hankering to reshuffle my pyjama drawer (otherwise known as the humble pile underneath my pillow) and surf the ‘net to recreate some of the finest pyjama/suiting combinations this side of Wee Willy Winkie- which I guess, in reality is the most achievable of the bunch really…

And I’ve definitely got a bit of a pyjama problem. Give me traditional ticking, toothpaste stripes and button up collars for the week and blousy nightdresses and linens for the aspirational long weekends and slow Sundays Nora Ephron films are made of (I mean, have you seen Sally’s bed in When Harry Met Sally)?!

Whether that’s pairing a silk polka dot duo with some cream linen and my finest socks, to pulling out the pearls (or beads, ssh) with some true Coastal Grandfather tribute pyjamas that have my heart- I’ve always seen nightwear as a bit of an extension of how I like to dress during the day (and yes, sometimes that means old t-shirts and shorts with elastic long gone too). But for the most part, I like to have fun with it.

Like I do dressing in any form, fun and functionality are paramount (and cosiness, obviously)- so with that I thought I’d share a few of my favourite pairs, and a little nod to some late night talking- because what’s fun if not spaghetti in a fancy hotel room in silky jammies?

Shot at one of my favourite London hotels, The Mitre (which I cannot recommend highly enough after staying here a couple of years back); their Catherine Parr suite felt like the perfect backdrop for some larger-than-life flouncing, and left me all googly eyed for pink striped headboards, bathroom bathtubs (an absolute essential for my fantasy dream bathroom) and the ultimate complimentary cornflower blue and pink red tones.

(Pyjamas: C/O Karen Mabon, Vest: Colourful Standard via Ruskin Clothing)

With these Breakfast Food pyjamas from Karen Mabon providing the ultimate injection of joy whether you’re a pastry queen or cereal cheerleader; I’m constantly vowed by her incredible prints and designs (plus she’s just released a new children’s range too- which is just as adorable as you’d expect).

Anyway- I’ll save myself from talking about nightwear all day- but if you’re after an extended and more thorough run down of some of my other favourite pyjama brands out there, I put together this post which is a pretty concise guide for all of your sleepwear needs too- enjoy and happy snoozing!
